We have recently completed work on a new animation for Birkbeck college. The animation combines hand drawn elements and graphics with a 3D tracking animation to give the impression of travelling seamlessly through the different eras of data science. This was a really fun project to be working on and nice to have a different animation approach applied to the images.
The concept of 'Data Science' -studying data and forming conclusions from your findings, was first born in 1854 when John Snow realised a spate of cholera deaths were all surrounding a community water pump in Soho. We illustrated this in a 'horrible histories' vein with people being carted off and a lot of coughing in the streets. The animation then travels to how we use data today, different technology used and the uses of this data.
